This November, a panel of the nation’s leading Black festival owners and producers will join together to discuss how their culture based film, music and culinary events are changing the game in the festival market.

Led by CR Capers, founder of the Harlem Film House’s HIP HOP FILM FESTIVAL, the panel features the A list of the nation’s top festival owners and producers that have created festivals and experiences that have disrupted the festival and live experience market.

Candace Montgomery, ESSENCE FESTIVAL : Executive Director of Live Events & Experiential

Marcus Allen, BROCCOLI CITY : Co-Founder

Stephon Crumbley, BET : Senior Director of Operations

Michael McCray, WHISTLEBLOWER FILM FESTIVAL : Founder

Dawn Padmore, HARLEM EATUP : Senior Producer

Skip Martin, Producer

The panel, aptly named “#FOR THE CULTURE” taking place November 21st, will focus on how African American culture has become a driving force in the festival industry. From Essence Festival in New Orleans, which boasts over half a million attendees, to AC3 in Atlanta, to festivals produced by Hip Hop moguls and top names in the industry, festivals mired in cultural experiences are in a unique position to claim market space in a world oversaturated with festivals.

#FOR THE CULTURE examines the unique perspective of these festivals from the men and women who defy industry norms and have made culture a global experience using music, film, health and cuisine.

HILTON SANTA BARBARA BEACHFRONT RESORT

FESTFORUMS happens November 20 – 22, 2019 at the Hilton Santa Barbara Hilton Beachfront Resort.

Additional events : CR Capers will join FestForums Founder, Laurie Kirby, in directing Fest Forums newest experience, BUILD A FESTIVAL, where attendees work together to create a faux festival from scratch and compete for a grand prize. The experience helps festival owners think outside the box to create a greater revenue flow for their festivals and fosters collaboration between various festival owners and producers from different genres.

FestForums will also honor Oscar nominee and Grammy Award winner Ray Parker Jr. Mr. Parker will deliver the keynote before being given the festival’s highest honor, the lifetime achievement award.

Festival owners and producers are encouraged to come and be a part of the discussion. Email Harlem Film House to get 50% off Fest Forums registration at info@harlemfilmhouse.com
