NEW YORK, January 11, 2022 — The Harlem Film House has been approved for a $20,000.00 Grants for Arts Projects award to support it’s ACT UP! program created by CR Capers to create access and equity for actors and screen writers through an innovative open mic style staged reading production.

The ACT UP! project is among 1,248 projects across America totaling $28,840,000 that were selected to receive this first round of fiscal year 2022 funding in the Grants for Arts Projects category.

“The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support arts projects like ACT UP! from Harlem Film House that help support the community’s creative economy,” said NEA Acting Chair Ann Eilers. “The Harlem Film House in New York is among the arts organizations nationwide that are using the arts as a source of strength, a path to well-being, and providing access and opportunity for people to connect and find joy through the arts.”

”I am beyond honored and humbled that the NEA sees the vision the Harlem Film House brings with not only ACT UP!, but our other programs like the Hip Hop Film Festival, our festival network 247films.tv and the HFAM Film Market.” said CR Capers, founder and CEO of the Harlem Film House.

ACT UP! will also join the host of initiatives CR Capers has deployed in the MetaVerse, including the groundbreaking Mall of the MetaVerse, an incubator that focuses on supporting content developed by meta-entrepreneurs from the culture in the MetaVerse. The Mall of the MetaVerse is housed in the Harlem Film House MetaVerse built by master meta architect ARTSY and housed on Microsoft’s ALTSPACE platform.
