THEO ROSSI & BRUCE COHEN JOIN THE ADVISORY BOARD AT HARLEM FILM HOUSE
Harlem Film House has confirmed that Theo Rossi and Bruce Cohen are among the newly named members to join it’s board as advisors. Both bring tremendous knowledge and Hollywood clout to the young organization that seeks to support filmmakers with both creative and business resources to help them succeed as entrepreneurs in film.
Bruce Cohen is an Academy Award-winning, Emmy nominated and Olivier Award-winning producer of film, television, theater, and live events. He won an Academy Award for Best Picture for AMERICAN BEAUTY, which took home a total of five awards at the ceremony. He earned additional Best Picture nominations for Gus Van Sant’s MILK and David O. Russell’s SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK and also produced both the film and stage musical adaptation of Tim Burton’s BIG FISH. Cohen serves on the Producer’s Branch Executive Committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and is a member of the Director’s Guild of America and the Producer’s Guild of America, having served two terms as Vice President of Motion Pictures. He is a four-time producer of the PGA Awards and produced the inaugural Governor’s Awards for the Academy in 2009. He is a graduate of Yale University and started his film career on Steven Spielberg’s THE COLOR PURPLE.
Bruce also served as president of the Board of Directors of the American Foundation for Equal Rights, the group behind the successful Supreme Court case to have California’s Proposition 8 declared unconstitutional. He served as the entertainment industry liaison for the Obama’s Joining Forces, and most recently moderated a discussion with Oprah Winfrey and Ava Duverney the the Produced By conference. His newest production “Slave Play” is now sweeping Broadway.
Theo Rossi is an actor and producer best known for his portrayal of Juan Carlos “Juice” Ortiz on the FX series Sons of Anarchy. He is also known for his portrayal of Hernan “Shades” Alvarez in Luke Cage. Rossi has appeared in television shows such as Law and Order: SVU, Hawaii Five-O, Las Vegas, The Unit, Jericho, Bones, Without a Trace, Veronica Mars, NYPD Blue, CSI:Miami, Lie to Me and Lost. He has had recurring roles on Heist, American Dreams, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. His film credits include Cloverfield, Code Breakers, House of the Dead 2: Dead Aim, Red Sands, The Informers, Kill Theory, Fencewalker, Meth Head, Lowriders and 2019’s VAULT. His production company, Dos Dudes Pictures, produced the award winning feature film, Bad Hurt.
Besides Theo’s passion for acting, producing and philanthropy, he is also an entrepreneur, and making his mark with his water company, OUNCE WATER™, which combines his passion for health and the goal of making healthy habits easier by setting a daily goal to drink 80 ounces of water.
Longtime industry veteran Eric Vollweiler also joins the advisory board, bringing a phenomenal amount of experience and contacts to the Harlem Film House.
Eric is based in Lehigh Valley Pennsylvania and is now the Director of Sponsorship and Partner Programs at the Haydenfilms Institute and Agency. Eric has been producing and marketing film festivals, conferences, movie premieres, parties at major film festivals and concerts in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Utah, Connecticut, Boston, New Jersey, Manhattan, Albany, Buffalo, Florida, Kansas City, and Toronto since 2005. Some of Eric’s Credits include the Saratoga Springs International Film Festival, New York State International Film Festival, Winter Film Awards Indie Film Festival, Garden State Film Festival, Boston International Film Festival, Silicon Beach Film Festival, Seal Beach Film Festival, Marina del Rey Film Festival, San Pedro International Film Festival and Artemis Woman in Action Film Festival.
